Since today is the last day of the pattern swap, you probably know what it’s all about. But, if not, let me enlighten you! There is a fabulous group on Facebook called The Swhetty Betties and it’s all about helping out new designers get started. I am so very happy to be a part of this group as I don’t think I would have had the support and motivation to do this without them. We like to do crazy activities from time to time to have fun and help promote each other, like this pattern swap! We got paired up with another designer, swapped patterns and sewed them up.

I had the privilege of swapping with Jill from AimerLae & Finn and have sewn her amazing Roughin’ and Rufflin’ Around Raglan, and I have to say, I’m in love!

This is my sweet girl showing off her new threads while it was FREEZING cold outside. She was such a trooper to let me take these photos! I would have loved to take even more to show you all the cute details, but her tolerance for this weather was about 60 seconds, and there’s only so many photos you can snap in such a short time 😉

This pattern went together beautifully! The pieces lined up perfectly, so it made matching stripes a breeze.

The directions are clear and straight forward, and it also has layered printing! If you’ve never tried a pattern with layers, it’s where you select only the size or sizes you need and that’s all that prints! No trying to decipher dot patterns or being forced to print in color. It couldn’t get any easier.

My intention was to make the Rufflin’ Around version because I have a ruffle-loving girly-girl. But isn’t it my luck that my brand new sewing machine died while sewing this!! So it had to take a trip to the shop and I was left with my serger. My serger also does a coverstitch and chain stitch, but I didn’t like the thought of trying to attach the ruffles with a chain stitch, so I left them off and made the Roughin’ Around style. And since I already had the ruffle strips cut out, I turned one ruffle piece into a cute little flower.

This shirt was definitely a hit with us and if you’d like to make one for your little one, head on over to Jill’s shop, AimerLae & Finn, and don’t forget to check out the other cute patterns she has!
